Oakridge College Faculty Handbook
The Faculty Handbook provides clear guidance for the faculty, academic staff, and student academic assistants of Oakridge College. Oakridge was founded on the belief that education carries responsibility: to students, to the college, and to the wider Briarmont community. Faculty are expected to teach with care, support students with good judgment, respect the academic hierarchy, and help maintain the standards that allow the college to function. This handbook explains the core expectations of faculty service, including classroom conduct, department responsibilities, academic ranks, course planning, student support, conflict resolution, Campus Security, promotion procedures, and related academic policies. It is intended to help faculty understand their role, use their authority responsibly, and know when to seek help from Department Chairs, Deans, or college administration.
Preface

A Message from the President
To new faculty, welcome to Oakridge College. To returning faculty, welcome back.
It is my honor to greet you at the beginning of a new academic year and to thank you for the work you bring to this institution. A college is not made by its buildings, its schedules, or its offices alone. It is made by the people entrusted with its classrooms, its students, and its standards.
The Faculty Handbook serves as our guide to the policies, procedures, and expectations that shape faculty service at Oakridge. It explains how the college is organized, how faculty roles are structured, how academic responsibilities are carried out, and how concerns should be addressed when they arise.
As faculty, you carry an important responsibility in the academic life of this college. Your work includes teaching, advising, supporting students, maintaining classroom standards, contributing to departmental needs, and preserving the trust placed in Oakridge by our students and by the wider Briarmont community.
This handbook is intended to provide clarity and consistency. It cannot answer every possible question, and some departments may maintain additional procedures for their own programs, courses, or activities. When clarification is needed, faculty should consult their Department Chair, Dean, or senior college administration.
The handbook may be updated as our procedures, academic structures, and administrative needs continue to develop. Faculty are expected to become familiar with its contents and to follow the policies and expectations that apply to their role.
Thank you for your service to Oakridge College. May this year be one of purpose, discipline, and meaningful work.
Sincerely,

Faisal Al-Harbi
President, Oakridge College
