Knowledge, with pine in the air.
A small land-sciences and liberal-arts college that has been quietly absorbing the town's edges for seventy-nine years.
Oakridge began in 1918 as the Oakridge Institute of Forestry and Land Sciences on the former Hartwell estate, and grew, in the unhurried way of the coast, into a full college.
Its students give Briarmont its restless, hopeful energy; its archives preserve the town’s long memory. The full history - the Hartwell estate, the founding of the institute, and Oakridge’s slow growth into a college - is documented in The Archive.
