Evelyn Grace Ashton, born Evelyn Grace Thorne in 1915, married into the Ashton family through Raymond Samuel Ashton, of the branch descended from Caleb Ashton. Little of her own early life survives in the town's record, as was often the way for the wives of the family's later generations.
Together she and Raymond had a son, Martin Avery Ashton, and it was through their household that the Caleb branch of the Ashtons carried on into the later twentieth century — the line that would in time reach Martin's own son, Clarence Ashton II. Evelyn outlived Raymond by more than two decades, dying in 1999.
