Shaun was the eldest of the three children born to Ward and Eleanor Ashton in Briarmont, arriving in 1928 into the last generation of the family to grow up in the town. He was twenty when his father gave the Ashton Residence to Oakridge College in 1948, and a young man when the family left California for Oregon the year after — so that the household he was born into in Briarmont finished its story in a new state.
He lived out his life in the Pacific Northwest and died in Portland in 1998. The record keeps his place at the head of Ward and Eleanor's children but names no marriage or family of his own.
