Anderson Hale

Anderson Hale (1838–1872), son of Alan and Gertrude, was the last person to carry the Hale name in Briarmont’s record. He died at thirty-four, and with him the name passed out of the town’s rolls for good. The line did not end — but it ended as Hales, running on only through his sisters, Eliza Mae (into the Ashtons) and Catherine (into the Sweelys), so that the blood of the founding homestead survived in other names while the Hale name itself fell silent. He is the quiet close of Briarmont’s quietest founding family.
