Margaret Eleanor Ashton — Meg to her family — was the middle of Ward and Eleanor Ashton's three children, born in Briarmont in 1931 between her elder brother Shaun and her younger brother Johnathan. She was given her mother's name, Eleanor, as her own, and grew up in the town through the family's final Briarmont years.
She was seventeen when the Ashton Residence passed to Oakridge College in 1948, and moved with the family to Oregon the next year. Meg lived the rest of her life there and died in Portland in 2012 — outliving her parents and both of her brothers, the last of Ward and Eleanor's children to survive.
