Using the Briarmont HUD
Your in-world control panel for characters, quests, events, travel, health, and currency - here's every control and what it does.
The Briarmont HUD is a small on-screen panel you wear in-world. It is how the town's systems reach your character. Quests, travel, events, dice, your wallet and your roleplay titler all run through it. You wear the Briarmont titler alongside it, and both are expected for roleplay in shared spaces (see the Community Standards).
Note. Not seeing the HUD? Re-attach it from the arrival point, or reset it from the Discord #help channel instructions.
The buttons you will use most
Four buttons cover almost everything you will do in your first week. This is what each one looks like in-world and what it is for.
ProfileMake a character — or switch to another one.- Opens the Munibase dashboard, where characters are created and managed.
- Choose the character you are playing right now.
- Pick your active community group and role.
Nearly everything else needs an active character. If a tool cannot find one, it opens Profile for you.
Activity trackerCheck what your character has going on.- See your community level, XP progress, and the quests you are on.
- Read the current objective, and reveal a hint when you have stalled.
- Open your Briarmont inbox and read unread notices.
The badge lights up when a notice is waiting or a new quest hook is available.
Roleplay titlerSay when you are in character — and when you are not.- OOC — out of character. Use it when you are chatting as yourself.
- AFK — away from keyboard, so nobody writes at an empty chair.
- Immersive — a newer mode in the same menu, still rolling out.
Also adjusts titler height and refreshes its status. Briarmont regions attach the titler automatically; it detaches when you leave.
MapGet where you are going.- Browse the supported community regions.
- Tap a landmark to travel to it.
Depending on the destination, the HUD teleports you, opens a Second Life map page, or offers you the landmark.
Start with your character.
The HUD connects its services to the character you are currently playing. If a tool cannot find an active character, it may open Profile automatically so you can choose one.
Health hints, refresh notices, and several tool results appear only in your private chat.
Follow, teleport, and Idle Camera may request movement, experience, or camera permissions from your viewer.

Collapse or expandTuck the HUD away or restore the full view.
Tap the double chevron to collapse the HUD. Use the matching control on the slim collapsed HUD to restore the expanded view.
02Activity trackerReview XP, quests, hooks, and unread notices.
Tap the exclamation badge to see your community level, XP progress, accepted and available quests, and unread notices. It tracks everything your character has going on, which is why it is more than a quest list.
- Open a quest you are on and read its current objective.
- Read the hints you have revealed so far.
- Reveal another hint, or abandon a quest you have taken.
- Open your Briarmont inbox in a browser.
It is where you check a quest, not where you start one. Quests reach you when your character becomes eligible, and they advance in-world.
Lit badge: you have an unread message or a new quest hook.

Health status clusterPrivate condition hints in six normally transparent positions.
Five effect icons appear only while their category is active: Neurological, Energy, Illness, Injury, and Intoxication. The sixth position is the menstrual-cycle ring.
The Cycle ring appears only when the active character has opted into menstrual tracking. Tap any visible status indicator to request a fresh status check.

Open the Munibase dashboard to create or manage characters, choose the character you are currently playing, or select an active community group and role.

CalendarBrowse upcoming community events.
Calendar unfolds the content panel and lists upcoming community events. Tap an event to print its description in your private chat. Use the panel refresh control to fetch the latest list.
06Roleplay titlerCheck titler status and set your roleplay mode.
Set OOC or AFK mode, use Admin or Moderator mode when permitted, adjust titler height, or request a status refresh.
Briarmont regions maintain the titler automatically for eligible characters. It detaches outside supported community regions.

SettingsMaintain and resize the HUD.
Reboot the HUD, reset cached data, switch weather units, change the idle-camera delay, or switch between standard and large HUD sizes.
08Map and landmarksBrowse supported regions and travel to landmarks.
Choose a region, then tap a landmark to begin travel. Depending on the destination and viewer permissions, the HUD may teleport you directly, open a Second Life map destination, or request the needed landmark.

Dice and challengesMake a d20 roll or begin a roleplay challenge.
Roll makes a simple d20 roll. Attempt to lets you describe an action and optionally choose a nearby player who may counter-roll. When a character is active, rolls use that character’s name.

FollowAutomatically follow a nearby avatar.
Choose someone nearby and allow movement-control permission. Tap Follow again to stop following and release the controls. Manual movement temporarily pauses automatic following.

Idle CameraStart an orbiting camera after you remain still.
Allow camera and movement-control permissions. Moving resets the timer and stops the idle view.
- Page Up / Page Down: adjust height.
- Shift + Left / Right: adjust pitch.
- Esc: clear the camera.

WeatherCurrent temperature and conditions.
Tap the weather readout to request updated conditions. Switch between imperial and metric units in Settings.

WalletView or transfer Briarmont currency.
Tap the displayed balance to refresh it. Tap the wallet glyph to choose a nearby player and transfer currency. The recipient must have an active character.
The health cluster.
The HUD reserves six positions for private character status. The five square slots are invisible until an effect activates; the Cycle position is invisible unless menstrual tracking is enabled for the active character.
Status refreshes and condition hints are delivered through your private chat. Other nearby players do not receive those HUD messages.
When an app unfolds.
Calendar and Map open an additional navigation and content panel. Only one screen-based app is active at a time.
Refresh the active app
Use the circular refresh control on the fold-out panel. Calendar reloads events; Map reloads the selected region’s landmarks.
Close the panel
Use the panel collapse control to fold away the navigation and content screens without minimizing the entire HUD.
