HGH — Standard Operating Procedures

Hartwell General Hospital's public handbook — the teaching-hospital mission, the standards of care every patient can expect, and the medical roleplay standards every member of the hospital follows. Maintained by the hospital group leads.

100 - Purpose and Scope

100.1 PURPOSE

The purpose of this Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is to establish the expectations, standards, and responsibilities of everyone who works at Hartwell General Hospital (HGH) — medical staff, nursing staff, students, interns, and allied health professionals alike.

Hartwell General Hospital is a recognized teaching hospital dedicated to providing exceptional patient care while fostering the education and professional development of future healthcare professionals. Every staff member shares responsibility for maintaining a safe, respectful, and educational environment.

100.2 SCOPE

This handbook applies to every member of the hospital, at every grade, on every shift. It is public by design: patients, families, students considering a placement, and the other county services the hospital works alongside are all entitled to know how Hartwell General operates.

Operational detail intended for hospital staff — the staff structure, scope of practice at each grade, supervision, records, and conduct — is held separately in the HGH Clinical Staff Manual, which is restricted to hospital members.

100.3 THE HOSPITAL'S COMMITMENT

As a recognized teaching hospital, HGH is committed to delivering exceptional patient care while providing a supportive, realistic, and educational environment where future healthcare professionals can learn, develop clinical skills, and gain confidence under appropriate supervision.
