| Zeta Phi Lambda |
Zeta Phi Lambda (ΖΦΛ) is Oakridge College’s oldest co-educational academic fraternity — and, by long reputation, its home for the dorks, the outsiders, and the students who never quite fit the mold of the other houses. Where the rest of Greek row sorts itself by pedigree or polish, Zeta sorts by curiosity. It was founded on the conviction that knowledge is not a passive pursuit, and it has always opened its doors to the brilliant, the odd, and the overlooked in equal measure.
Its promise is in its motto, “Through Knowledge, We Rise” (Per Scientiam Surgimus): whatever a member arrives as, they leave transformed by what they learn and the people they learn it beside.
Colors and Symbols
Zeta’s colors are red and black. Its mascot is the phoenix, chosen for its cycle of rising renewed from its own ashes — the house’s image of a mind remade by learning — and its flower is the sunflower, which turns always toward the light. The chapter carries its motto in both English, “Through Knowledge, We Rise,” and Latin, “Per Scientiam Surgimus.”
Culture and Membership
Zeta Phi Lambda is co-educational and draws from every discipline, initiating its members as Brothers and Sisters without regard to field of study. It is, by design, the chill and welcoming corner of Oakridge’s Greek life — a house built around belonging rather than exclusivity, where being a little too into your subject is the point rather than the problem. What its members share is a commitment to academic excellence, to looking out for one another, and to the kind of friendships that outlast graduation.
Structure
The chapter is led by its President, Vice President, and Council. Its current president is Abbie Vicious. Membership is open across disciplines, and the live roster of Brothers and Sisters is maintained on Munibase: Zeta Phi Lambda.
